1. Information We DON'T Collect

SmartTab is designed with privacy at its core. We do NOT collect:

• Your browsing history
• Websites you visit
• Search queries
• Personal information
• Usage analytics
• Tracking data

2. How SmartTab Works

SmartTab operates entirely locally on your device:

• Local Storage: All browsing history is stored using Chrome's local storage API
• No Servers: We don't operate any servers that receive your data
• No Analytics: We don't use Google Analytics or any tracking services
• No External Requests: SmartTab doesn't make requests to external servers

3. Chrome Sync (Optional)

If you enable Chrome Sync in SmartTab settings:

• Only your favorites are synced using Chrome's built-in sync storage
• This data is encrypted and handled by Google Chrome
• We cannot access this synced data
• You can disable sync at any time

4. Permissions Explained

SmartTab requires certain permissions to function:

• History: To read and display your browsing history
• Tabs: To manage open tabs and recently closed tabs
• Storage: To save your history locally on your device
• All URLs: To extract page content for better search

These permissions are used solely for the features described and never for data collection.

5. Third-Party Services

Payment Processing

When purchasing the full version:

• Payments are processed by ExtensionPay
• We don't store credit card information
• ExtensionPay's privacy policy applies to payment data

Favicon Service

SmartTab uses Google's favicon service to display website icons. This service only receives domain names, not full URLs or browsing history.

6. Data Security

Your data security is ensured by:

• All data stored locally on your device
• No transmission to external servers
• Data protected by Chrome's security measures
• No SmartTab accounts or user profiles

7. Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

• Delete individual history items anytime
• Use bulk deletion features
• Clear all history while preserving favorites
• Uninstalling SmartTab removes all stored data

8. Children's Privacy

SmartTab is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children because we don't collect any user information at all.

9. Changes to Privacy Policy

If we update this privacy policy:

• We'll update the "Last updated" date
• Significant changes will be noted in extension updates
• Your continued use constitutes acceptance
